AfriForum takes on Tshwane metro over electricity tariff hike

Civil rights organisation AfriForum and the Tshwane Metro are set to face off in the North Gauteng High Court.
This over what the rights group claims are illegal increases in electricity tariffs.
AfriForum served the metro and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa with a summons last week.
The organisation argues that the metro implemented illegal electricity tariff increases without Nersa’s approval.
It says Tshwane failed to respond to any of its letters and that it’s had no choice but to approach the courts.
