South Africa is the most unequal country in the world: report

South Africa is the most unequal country in the world, with race playing a determining factor according to the World Bank’s latest report.

It shows that 10 percent of the population — mostly whites — own more than 80 percent of the wealth.

This is attributed to the legacy of apartheid and colonialism.

The report also paints a bleak picture about neighbouring states Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho and Namibia.

They all finish high on the list of the most unequal countries in the world.

In Namibia, almost 70 percent of the land is still in the hands of white farmers.
