Horror as Advocate representing Sars in case against MaMkhize shot 3 times in Durban

A senior advocate Coreth Naudé who is representing the South African Revenue Service (SARS) in a high-profile case against businesswoman and media personality Shauwn Mkhize, popularly known as “MaMkhize,” has been critically injured in a shooting incident. The incident occurred as Naudé arrived at her hotel near the Gateway shopping centre.

According to reports from News24, Naudé was ambushed by unidentified assailants who fired multiple shots, hitting her in the upper body. She was immediately rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she remains in critical condition.

The attack comes amidst a legal battle in which SARS seeks to attach MaMkhize’s fleet of luxury vehicles as part of efforts to recover more than R37 million in unpaid taxes. MaMkhize’s security team and armed guards had previously thwarted attempts by attorneys to seize these vehicles.

Members of the KZNVIP security team, who were on routine patrol, responded swiftly to the scene after hearing multiple gunshots. It is believed that the assailants targeted Naudé as her vehicle entered the hotel parking area. The suspects fled in a silver 2020 Toyota Corolla, which is being used as a key piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Emergency responders from KZNVIP Medics, Netcare 911, and IPSS were on the scene to stabilize the critically injured Naudé before transporting her to a medical facility. All relevant emergency services were in attendance, and police investigations are currently underway.

MaMkhize, the owner of the Royal AM soccer team, is no stranger to controversy. The business mogul is embroiled in another tax scandal that threatens her luxurious assets. She reportedly owes SARS over R37 million in unpaid taxes, a situation exacerbated by a history of tax disputes. In 2020, SARS successfully obtained a liquidation order against her cleaning company for R200,000 in unpaid taxes.

Mkhize, who amassed her wealth through numerous government tenders for low-cost housing projects in KwaZulu-Natal, has been under scrutiny from both SARS and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) since 2013. Recent reports from the City Press indicate that SARS has filed an execution application to attach 13 of Mkhize’s vehicles, including a Lamborghini and Rolls Royce owned by the Shandi Trust and her soccer team.

If the court grants the order, all vehicles belonging to the Shandi Trust, where Mkhize is the primary shareholder, must be surrendered to SARS within seven days. Efforts by SARS curators to access Mkhize’s property this week were unsuccessful, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing saga.

As the investigation into the shooting of Advocate Naudé continues, the legal and financial troubles of Shauwn Mkhize remain in the spotlight, raising questions about the lengths individuals will go to protect their assets and avoid accountability.
