President Cyril Ramaphosa appoints new Advisory Council members

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced the appointment of new members of the National Orders Advisory Council, to be chaired by poet and writer Mandla Langa.

Other members who have been appointed to the council include former UCT Vice-Chancellor Mamokgethi Phakeng, Research Professor Glenda Grey, football administrator Irvin Khoza, singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Paralympian and swimmer Natalie Du Toit.

In a statement, the Presidency says National Orders are the highest awards that South Africa, through the President, bestows on citizens and eminent foreign nationals. These are orders of Ikhamanga, Luthuli, Mapungubwe, Baobab, and the Order of the Companions of O. R. Tambo.

The Presidency says Ramaphosa also extends his gratitude to the outgoing members of the National Orders Advisory Council.
