Roadblocks set up across Gauteng

Transport officials are manning the country’s major routes as holiday travel picks up ahead of Christmas.
Gauteng Transport MEC, Jacob Mamabolo, says there’s a push to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and that drivers comply with COVID-19 safety protocols.
Those who don’t will face punishment.
Mamabolo said, “operations like these by our law enforcement agencies definitely have a positive impact in terms of two things: one — making sure that we enforce protocols, laws, and regulations relating to road safety. Secondly, they are definitely impacting the space because we’re checking compliance with protocols for COVID-19.”
