A man believed to be in his twenties died and two others injured in a collision between two vehicles on the M4 North Bound near Virginia in Durban just before 02:00 on Saturday morning.
Rescue Care spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said when paramedics arrived they found two vehicles obstructing the North Bound carriageway.
“On assessment it was found that one person, believed to be the driver of the Toyota, had sustained major injuries.”
“There was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene,” said Jamieson.
Jamieson said two other occupants were treated on scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care. He said the entire North Bound carriageway was closed whilst emergency personnel worked to clear the scene. Jamieson said the events leading up to the collision were unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and would be investigating further.
