991 more COVID-19 cases identified

The health department said 991 more COVID-19 infections have been reported in the last 24 hours. However, the total number of active cases in the country has dropped below 27,000. Nearly half of these are in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
Sadly, 103 more people have died of COVID-19 related complications. The total death toll in the country is now just over 50,900. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The corruption and fraud case against former ANC MP Vincent Smith and former Bosasa chief operating officer Angelo Agrizzi has been postponed to 28 May.
This was in order to allow the National Prosecuting Authority to provide the accused with further disclosure of the charge docket. Learn more
