6 fires in seven days in Cape Town

At least 2, 000 people have been displaced after fires tore through several informal settlements in the Western Cape.

In the past seven days, emergency services and NGO’s have responded to 6 fires.

The latest is in Khayelitsha where 65 structures were destroyed.

The City of Cape Town says majority of the fires have been caused by negligence and is now on a drive to educate communities
