47 school kids packed into minibus taxi: Video. A taxi driver was arrested on Monday after police in Port Elizabeth stopped his vehicle and patiently counted as many as 47 disembarking passengers.
The video has astonished SA but appears to be a routine form of scholar transport in Nelson Mandela Bay. A Toyota Quantum should hold no more than 16 passengers.
Another taxi driver was reportedly also arrested while carrying 36 school pupils, suggesting that overloading such vehicles so dangerously is little more than a daily occurrence in the Eastern Cape.
