MPs debate 2023 State of the Nation Address

Last week President Cyril Ramaphosa presented his plan to tackle the numerous crises facing the country and now MPs have the opportunity to respond. The first of two days of debate into the State of the Nation address kicked off on Tuesday.

While ANC MPs praised the president’s plans around electricity, crime and unemployment, opposition parties had sharp criticisms for both the president and those in his executive.

The National Prosecution Authority has explained why it elected not to prosecute anyone after the death of Anele Tembe, the late fiancée of slain rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes.

AKA was gunned down in a suspected hit on Friday night, while leaving a restaurant on Durban’s popular Florida Road. His killers are yet to be found. Learn more
