Minister Angie Motshekga closes the 2021 Virtual Basic Education Lekgotla

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is closing the 2021 Virtual Basic Education Lekgotla. The Lekgotla was held virtually under the theme: ”Equipping Learners with Knowledge and Skills for a Changing World”.
For the past five years, the DBE has hosted the Basic Education Sector Lekgotla as a means of engaging the sector on key deliverables and strategies towards improving the quality of basic education.
Once again, we hope to have our President, His Excellency Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, giving the keynote address on the opening day of the Lekgotla. Basic Education Minister, Mrs Angie Motshekga, MP, will present the opening address as well as the closing remarks, whilst Basic Education Deputy Minister, Dr Reginah Mhaule, MP, will present the welcoming address to delegates and chair the opening session of the Lekgotla.
The virtual Lekgotla will discuss and reflect on the progress that the sector has made in relation to its commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD4); the National Development Plan (NDP); and recommendations made at the previous Lekgotla.
The deliberations will also reflect on challenges experienced and refocus efforts towards emerging priorities and interventions in the field of education such as the improvement of learning outcomes; the role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in a changing world; health and safety in schools amid the COVID-10 pandemic; as well as curriculum, teacher development and learning.
