Eskom: 200 days without load shedding a significant milestone to ensure energy security

It’s been 200 days without load shedding.
Eskom said this achievement is due to its Generation Operational Recovery Plan that was established on 26 March 2024.
The power utility said the plan has not only reduced unplanned outages by over 8%, but also improved the Energy Availability Factor by more than 7%.
Spokesperson Daphne Mokoena said the recovery plan is expected to contribute 2% to the country’s economy and improve the entity’s financial performance in 2025.
“We are in an incredibly exciting industry at a moment of tangible change. In preparation for a competitive electricity market, this is a significant milestone to ensure energy security and attract investment to South Africa.”
