Things you probably didn’t know about Riky Rick

Mzansi award-winning South African rapper and hip-hop artist Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, popularly known as Riky Rick, passed away on the morning of Wednesday 23 February.

The family of rapper Riky Rick confirmed that he passed on following the rumours circulating on Twitter. A source told a local publication that the 34-year-old rapper was found by his management team at about 08:30. He was apparently rushed to a nearby hospital because he was said to be alive at the time.

His cause of death is yet to be made public, but according to several publications, it is rumoured that the musician committed suicide.

1. Riky Rick was multi-talented

The Boss Zonke hitmaker was not just a rapper but songwriter, singer, composer, actor, entrepreneur, and fashion designer.

2. He was married to Bianca Naidoo

The rapper married Bianca Naidoo in 2013. So, the pair have been married for eight years. The 34-year-old often showed his wife love on social media.

3. Riky Rick has two children

Bianca and the rapper welcomed a son named Maik Daniel Makhado together in 2014. So, Maik is about seven years old. The rapper also has another child name Jordan born in 2010.

4. He studied psychology

The Boss Zonke hitmaker studied psychology for a year but he left the qualification for something more artsy. He previously said that he regrets his decision.

“For one year at university I studied psychology (as a major). I was trying to do a communications degree but then I decided to go for something more arty. I should’ve actually stuck with it,” he said to the Sowetan.

5. Riky Rick’s first car was a 1979 Mitsubishi Lancer

The rapper’s first car was a 1979 Mitsubishi Lancer which he bought for R11 000 at the time.

“My first car was a 1979 Mitsubishi Lancer. I used to take my mom’s car, until one day she was like ‘Yo, you need to get your own car’. That’s when I bought the Lancer, I think it cost me about R11,000. It was always a struggle to open the windows; the one time we had to break the window to get out,” he said to the publication.
