President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reacted angrily to the reports by Sky News which showed security details abusing citizens.
Mnangagwa said the behaviour by security forces is not consistent with the new dispensation.
“I was appalled by today’s Sky News report.” Mnangagwa said. “That is not the Zimbabwean way. I have instructed that the individuals behind this be arrested and encourage all those impacted to contact the authorities and file an official complaint.”

This is the second time that Mnangagwa has condemned the abuse of citizens by security forces.
Last week when he arrived in Zimbabwe from the EuroAsia trip, Mnangagwa said the violence by security forces should not be tolerated.
“Likewise, violence or misconduct by our security forces is unacceptable and a betrayal of the new Zimbabwe. Chaos and insubordination will not be tolerated. Misconduct will be investigated. If required, heads will roll.” He said then.
Sky News reported that eyewitness told how they saw a policeman striking a man with a truncheon on his head, accompanied by a soldier and a plain clothes security agent who slapped, punched and kicked the man – in broad daylight.
The Sky News crew says it followed the group on Harare’s Chirembra Road as the officers ordered the victim to run, then bundled him into a private taxi.
Caught on camera, the policeman then dragged the man out and the group started hitting his face as he sat handcuffed on the ground while onlookers covered their eyes.
Zimbabwe has been gripped by a wave of violent crackdown by security forces after protestors ran amok on January 14 and destroyed shops before burning down police stations.
In Bulawayo there has been reported incidences of soldiers raping citizens.
