Workshop Technician – Johannesburg – Industrial Equipment
To service and repair all industrial related equipment (e.g. pneumatics, power tools and welding machines, compressors and generators) by being able to strip, identify components, quote and repair for all machines within the agreed service level parameters.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 with Maths & Science / Technical N3 Maths & Science
Written and spoken English
Training courses in Industrial / Domestic Appliance repairs and maintenance. Preferably from and external accredited training provider (i.e. certification).
Between 3- 5 years working experience repairing all industrial related equipment
Duties :
A good knowledge of service and repair techniques and procedures with various categories of machine tools
Technical skills
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Problem solving skills.
Effective Verbal and written communication skills
Receive incoming machines with associated job card either issued by the Manager/ Foreman or self-collection
Check job card for correct machine information e.g. auxiliary equipment and accessories
Examine machine for general condition and visual external damage and record findings on card
Test and or strip machine and clean components in preparation for evaluation.
Examine & evaluate components, identify and list part numbers, description & quantity required on job card
Make a clear note on the job card if this is a factory warranty or not. Compile quote.
Repair upon acceptance of quote from customer
On go-ahead to repair, check if correct spares have been issued, as per quote on job card
Carry out comprehensive test of machine to ensure correct and acceptable operation
Thoroughly clean machine and sign off job card. Return machine to allocated rea, and hand job card back to Workshop Administrator
Adhere to Health and Safety Standards
Provide training to third party repair agents when required.
