Woolworths reports rise in food sales

Woolworths has reported a 10 percent rise in food sales for the year. But this wasn’t enough to prevent a 65 percent fall in annual earnings.

The retailer was affected by the temporary closure of most of its non-food services as a result of the first lockdown.

The company’s fashion, beauty and home business took a 10 percent dive in sales.

Its troubled Australian division David Jones saw sales decline for the year.
