Skeem Saam actress William Manku steals the spotlight at court

Well-known Mzansi actress Amanda Manku and her siblings attended court for the first time, where their father, William Manku, was in the dock.

The Skeem Saam actress turned heads as she entered the Lebowakgomo Magistrates Court on Monday, and while her fans were happy to see their loved TV star, others felt sorry for what happened to her family members.

Willam and his co-accused, David Khoza, appeared for the murder of his wife, Gladys Manku, and mother-in-law, Letty Maphothoma, who was shot in May 2021.

The two have been in custody since their arrest in January. Manku was denied bail, while Khoza abandoned his.

William and David are in custody for conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, attempted murder, two counts of murder, and defeating the ends of justice.

They appeared on Monday, 24 June for another bail application on new facts, but the matter was postponed to Tuesday, 25 June for bail application on new facts.

The magistrate ordered the investigating officer to bring along the two phones of accused number 2 so that emails or messages from the bank could be retrieved for the bail application.

Previously, the investigating officer said she believed William wasn’t safe to be given bail because he might temper with evidence of the matter and that he might also be hurt by angry community members.

The investigating officer also mentioned that William confessed before getting arrested.

“The day he confessed, he said he would get to court to plead guilty and face the consequences of his actions,” she said.

She said after the death of his wife, he never went back home to comfort the kids because he knew what he had done.

“As a parent, he should’ve gone and stayed with the children and indicated that the fights that he had with their mother were over. He should’ve given them love,” she said.

Amanda, her family, and the community who came in their numbers to support her, left before Daily Sun could talk to them.
