Willard Katsande future with Kaizer Chiefs up for discussion?

Willard Katsande’s future with Kaizer Chiefs is certainly up for discussion at present, and a new contract with Amakhosi would probably see him retire at the club.

The Siya crew reported recently that the midfielder, who will turn 34 next month, could be set for a new two-year deal following his return to form this season, especially given the fact that the club is yet to lose a game in which he’s been available in 2019/20.

Katsande’s contract with the Glamour Boys will expire at the end of the current campaign, and while there is thought to be a one-year option attached to it, there is now talk of a potential new two-year deal being put on the table for the Zimbabwean in the new year.

If the combative midfield man, and current captain in Itumeleng Khune’s absence, pen a new two-year deal then it will see him reach a decade of service to Chiefs since joining from Ajax Cape Town in 2011, no doubt cementing his place as a club legend.

Chiefs have a few decisions to make in the coming weeks with the likes of Katsande, George Maluleka, Daniel Akpeyi and Khune all out of contract in just over six months’ time, and it will be interesting to see who is still an Amakhosi player by the time 2020/21 comes around.
