Western Cape police say efforts to clamp down on organised crime starting to pay off

Western Cape police say their efforts to clamp down on organized crime are bearing fruit.

This after they confiscated R4.6 million and 16 luxury watches from a house in Claremont believed to be that of alleged gang boss, Ralph Stanfield, over the weekend.

Police say they also arrested a 34-year-old man for defeating the ends of justice and possession of presumed stolen property during the raid.

Stanfield is currently in custody accused of a string of charges, including an alleged attempted hit on his former driver, whom he and his wife accused of stealing over R1 million from them.

He’s also facing a gun charge from his arrest in September last year when he was found to be in possession of an unlicensed shotgun and ammunition.

The police’s Novela Potelwa: “Investigations into the origins of the cash and watches continue.”
