Joburg residents reminded of 24-hour water disruption

Johannesburg residents are reminded of a 24-hour water interruption from 5am on Friday morning.

New valves are being fitted at the Rand Water treatment plant in Vereeniging.

Johannesburg Water says it could take up to five days for water to return to normal supply once the work is completed.

Michael Sun, Johannesburg MMC for environment and infrastructure, says water tankers around the city will minimize disruptions.

“The reason for the interruption is that Rand Water will be replacing certain pump sets at its Vereeniging water plant,” he said.

“This is unfortunate and we know that life can become unbearable with these outages now in order to minimise and reduce any inconveniences to our customers we will have filling points at the affected areas. I will be going out to inspect… We want to thank you for your cooperation and patience during these times.”
