Ben Affleck is speaking out for the first time since entering rehab in August. The Batman actor/director was rushed to the Canyon Treatment Centre in Malibu after ex-wife Jennifer Garner staged an intervention.
After recently reaching the 40-day mark in the treatment facility, Ben released a statement via Instagram pertaining to his current well-being
This week I completed a forty day stay at a treatment centre for alcohol addiction and remain in outpatient care,” Ben wrote.
“The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say. It’s given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others,” he continues, adding: “Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment.”
Ben went on to explain that he is fighting for himself and his family, and shared words of encouragement to those who may be going through the same.
Ben added, ‘I am fighting for myself and my family.’ And he made it clear he is ‘grateful’ to those who are there for him.
So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction. To those people, I want to say thank you. Your strength is inspiring and is supporting me in ways I didn’t think was possible
