City of Johannesburg Speaker, Vasco Da Gama has been ousted in a late-night no-confidence vote.
Da Gama, a DA member, was accused of interfering in tender procurement and being biased in the council.
The PAC tabled this motion of no confidence, and it was supported by other parties, among them the ANC.
The coalition government led by the DA, Action SA, and the Freedom Front Plus backed the troubled speaker.
Some 132 votes could not match the 136 in favour of the motion, resulting in Da Gama being pushed out.
