US Vice President Kamala Harris praises Biden, vows to defeat Trump

US Vice President Kamala Harris says she will do everything in her power to unite the Democratic Party and the nation to defeat Donald Trump this November.

In a statement released after President Joe Biden announced he would no longer seek re-election while endorsing his VP to replace him as the party nominee, Harris said she was honoured and that it was her intention to earn and win the Democratic Party nomination.

Harris said Biden’s remarkable legacy of accomplishment was unmatched in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many presidents who had served two terms in office.

She said it was a profound honour to serve as Biden’s Vice President, calling his decision to step aside a selfless and patriotic act by doing what he’s done throughout his life of service, putting the American people and the country above everything else.

Harris said they now had 107 days until Election Day, vowing to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump this November.

The Democratic Party Chairman said that they took their responsibility seriously in swiftly delivering a candidate to the American people.
