Father traumatised after son went missing in Umvoti River

The father of the seven-year-old boy who went missing in the uMvoti River in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday says that he was with his son when he slipped into the water.

Search and rescue teams resumed operations on Monday morning.

“I don’t know how I can explain it, because he went once inside the water and reappeared once from the water and after that he disappeared,” said the father.

He said he tried to get inside the river but couldn’t find his son.

This is one of many drowning instances in the area.
