Third man arrested in connection to Mac Miller’s death

The rapper died on September 7 last year after ingesting a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol. Investigations into the death of 26-year-old rapper Malcolm McCormick, aka Mac Miller, are making headway, after a third suspect was arrested on Monday.

According to TMZ, Stephen ‘Stevie’ Walter was arrested in Los Angeles and, according to documents, he was contacted by Cameron James Pettit two days before Miller’s death. EWN reports that Walter was charged with distributing and possessing a controlled substance.

Pettit currently faces charges related to selling Miller counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl – a synthetic opioid at least 50 times more potent than heroin, AFP reported earlier in September.

Miller died on September 7 last year after ingesting a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol, according to the Los Angeles medical examiner.

TMZ summarises that Miller texted Pettit to get ‘blues’, after which Pettit contacted Walter to obtain the pills. Walter then sent a runner, Ryan Reavis, to Miller’s home in the early hours of September 5, and Miller died on September 7.

Reavis has since also been arrested in connection to Miller’s death. Police say the scene at Miller’s home indicated that he had consumed one or more pills, as only six of the ten pills were recovered.

Pettit allegedly contacted a friend after hearing about Miller’s death, saying that he was sad but “also a little worried”.
