Murderer and rapist Thabo Bester has a new ID number. He was previously not in possession of any official identity documents.
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says the card was issued on 17 May. He says this will make it easy for him to be traced and identified.
The Facebook rapist escaped from a Mangaung prison with the help of his girlfriend and four others.
