Tecno Camon 19 in for review

Tecno is becoming ever more popular with fans of affordable but capable phones. And with good reason. The maker’s recent efforts have all been offered hardware that punches well above its price class. The Tecno Camon 19 is the latest in this line of devices. We got the Sea Salt White, which has an iridescent finish that’s handsome in any light. There’s an even prettier Digital Green model out there as well.

The Tecno Camon 19 comes in a package with an 18W charger, USB cable, and a case

Specs-wise, the Tecno Camon 19 sounds solid, although obviously you can’t expect any wonders at this price range. It has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD of 1080p resolution. It’s a good-looking panel, but it’s a bit let down by its standard refresh rate (the Tecno Camon 19 Pro has the same panel, only 120Hz).

The battery is a generous 5,000mAh unit. Whichever model you go for, you get 128GB of onboard storage. The main camera is a 64MP 1/1.7″ f/1.7 unit, which should be more than adequate in all lighting conditions.
The chipset is the MediaTek Helio G85, a 12nm chip with two Cortex-A75 cores running at 2.0GHz, and six Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.8GHz. There are either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The issue with any Tecno smartphone is availability. It’s hard to find these phones outside of developing markets. One such market is Kenya, where it’s priced the equivalent of €190, which is a steal for the hardware.
