Job Purpose
Provide technical Web-Services support to the to Internal Business Areas that host Web-based Applications.
To support and contribute to a small number of products or work streams relating to the design and implementation of Cloud solutions, operating across a number of Service Teams within SBSA and proactively engaging with internal stakeholders in the delivery of Cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
The incumbent shall perform technical specialist support work as allocated by the line manager that pertains to services that are performed for Open Systems by 3rd party contractors. This encompasses:
a. Contracted services activities pertaining to incident- and problem escalations to 3rd party contractors
b. Facilitation technical specialty interfaces with the associated technical teams in Open Systems, affected service end user communities, infrastructure service management, application service management and other related technology areas in Shared Operations.
c. Performing any other contractual obligated technical specialist work Standard Bank must perform as specified in the respective contracts’ terms.
d. Facilitating Standard Bank technical specialist representation in meetings, reporting, reviews, annual reviews, contract renewals, etc.
e. Appraisal of 3rd party contractors technical achievement of service level agreements
f. Support to Operational Controls processes (Audits, Risk and DR& BCM governance, business processes improvements, performance management, and finance and business management), supply of requested information and implementation of corrective actions as applicable.

National Degree
Qualification (preferably vendor certified) in one or more of the Core Job technologies related to Web Hosting Services including:
Websphere
JBOSS
C, C++
Java
Perl
Python
Go
Shell Scripting
Experience:
10 to 15 years experience in architecting, deploying, configuring and supporting Web Hosted technologies
10-15 years experience in dealing with the technical challenges pertaining designing, implementing & administering Web Hosted applications and services.
Experience gained in using large scale production systems and technologies, for example load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, microservices, and configuration management.
Designing and executing small to medium scale systems automation projects with strong autonomy.
Must have had a strong focus on instrumentation and observability with experience with monitoring and metrics collection tools such as AppDynamics, Prometheus, Nagios and Graphite.
Be familiar with systems and configuration management tools (e.g. Chef and Terraform).
Have experience implementing Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery processes in engineering teams and lastly, experience leading and integrating test automation into various points in a deployment pipeline and prior programming background in at least one or more languages: C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Go, or scripting experience in Shell
Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
Proficient in Java applications.
Proficient in IBM WebSphere applications.
Proficient in Redhat JBOSS applications
To build the competency of current incumbent Internet Services “IS” team;
To develop industry best practice processes and delivery within the IS team;
To review and remediate key technology build practices. This will include security, stability, supportability and scalability components;
To apply initial remediation on critical banking systems; and
To build capability for BPM Federation technology.
Staff competency evaluation, knowledge transfer, mentoring and coaching. This will be conducted in close collaboration with the team management function. The following areas will be covered:
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol “LDAP”;
Business Process Management “BPM”;
Message Channel Agent “MCA”;
Best practices for WebSphere Application Server “WAS” in general; and
WebSphere Application Server “WAS” security.
Build stack standardization, with documentation (Including Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition “J2EE” web host best practice guidelines);
Automated deployment process, with documentation. Develop best practices to keep production and Disaster Recovery “DR” environments in synch through automation;
Reduce the number of MCA instances by doing performance tuning. Fewer number of instances would result in cost avoidance.
Develop best practices for BPM. Advising on clear roles and responsibilities between application and Internet Services Team. Reduce duplication of effort.
Implement remediation on critical systems. To be scoped and agreed in collaboration with Critical Service Remediation “CSR” and IPS (Infrastructure) IS “Internet Services” team; and
Completion of BPM remediation & industrialization, including introduction of federation capabilities.
The service will be in the form of knowledge transfer, coaching and mentoring and back up support. The primary purpose of the service is the enablement of the Standard Bank team and the overall heightening of skills and capabilities. Apply Now
