Three people have died and a fourth is in hospital after they were allegedly kidnapped by members of the taxi industry.
The survivor told police they were all beaten and forced to drink acid.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi called on anyone with information to assist the police in investigations.
Police have opened three counts of murder, attempted murder as well as kidnapping.
