Numsa says its suspension of its Second Deputy President, Ruth Ntlokotse was constitutional.
Ntlokotse and 30 others claim they were suspended to sideline them ahead of the union’s crucial national congress.
The suspended officials are now heading to court to have their suspensions lifted or to have the congress pushed back.
Numsa spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola said, “as Numsa, we want to be clear, the decision to suspend the deputy president was constitutional and we followed all procedures.”
“This is what we’ll say when we go to court tomorrow. We feel we’ve done all the right things. We don’t support the allegation that we didn’t follow the constitution.”
