Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v SuperSport United
Date: 18 September 2019
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
A spot in the MTN8 final is up for grabs when Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United do battle in the second-leg of their semi-final on Wednesday evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
It’s round two of the two Tshwane heavyweights, after the sides played to a 1-1 draw in the first-leg at the beginning of September.
Since then, the Brazilians were in CAF Champions League action where they cruised to a 5-0 victory over Cote d’Or in Seychelles on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa will be confident of getting on the scoresheet as an away side after netting three goals in their recent outing against Cape Town City, which ended in a 3-3 draw at Mbombela Stadium.
SuperSport last won the MTN8 Cup in the 2017-18 season under the guidance of Eric Tinker and reached the final last season, where lost out to the Citizens on penalties.
Both sides are coming to the clash with long unbeaten streaks, as Masandawana are undefeated in domestic competitions since the start of the campaign, while United have not lost in all competitions since going down 2-0 to the Brazilians in their opening league match.
