Main Objectives:

Carry out truck loading/offloading, equipment set-up/breakdowns and any other equipment re-location, which may become necessary.
Take instruction from, and with, the Technician in charge of a specific event, to facilitate the requirements of that event.
Assist with the technical aspects of a Live Event within his/her field of expertise for the Carnival City venue according to top production standards.

Responsibilities:

PRE-PRODUCTION

Check and understand the event equipment list, schedules and drawings (when available).
Ensure that he/she is in possession of all information necessary to successfully complete the assigned task.
Assist with the preparation of equipment for load-in, ensuring that the preparation areas are kept clean and safe in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
Move equipment to the venue for installation.
Offload trucks (if necessary) and move equipment to the venue.
POST – PRODUCTION

Check and return equipment to storage areas after the event.
Report any damage sustained by equipment to the Venue Technical Manager immediately.
VENUE

Make sure that he/she has a production schedule or an understanding of call times and event dates.
Take instruction from the Senior Technician/Venue Manager or Technician at all times.
Perform duties efficiently and professionally within the allotted time.
Conduct him/herself appropriately on-site, adhering to dress codes and safety standards.
Set up the venue layout as per client/Venue Manager’s instructions.
Execute all set-ups and breakdowns as necessary.
Dismantle equipment and load trucks after the event, checking that no equipment is left behind on-site.
Take care of personal tools and company equipment/property.
Take responsibility for the cleanliness and upkeep of his/her venue areas and assist with cleaning of general Venue areas.
Assist technical crew wherever necessary
Make sure that third party equipment/property sustains no damage.

OTHER

Assist elsewhere in the complex with regard to Entertainment requirements.

GENERAL

Assist management with any other duties as may be required.

Requirements:

Matric
Technician related qualification or equivalent on the job experience
Basic Lighting, AV and Audio skills
Basic knowledge of equipment, practices and safety standards including their application to live events installations

Skills:

AV experience
Product knowledge
Problem-solving (technical) skills
Logistics

Basic Knowledge:

AV and Audio knowledge within a corporate AV environment
Client-facing and client handling experience
Client communications skills
Must have worked on corporate events
MS Office proficient to enable document handling
Basic PC troubleshooting
Knowledge of set-up and running small events

Personal Attributes:

Time-management skills
Punctual
Attention to detail – when obtaining event equipment spec and setting up for events
Taking pride in his/her appearance when dealing with corporate clients
