Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Eskom’s representatives visited Diepkloof in Soweto in the wake of ongoing protests over electricity disconnections.
The power utility wants roughly 700 households to each pay a R6,000 fine to be reconnected.
Soweto residents have been pleading for the restoration of their electricity after a five-month battle.
Three weeks ago, President Cyril Ramaphosa and senior ANC officials visited Soweto, promising to resolve the issue.
