The South African Police Service says it’s all systems go for the State of the Nation Address tomorrow.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver his speech at the Cape Town City Hall at 7pm on Thursday.
Usually, the successes and failures of the past year and the plans and challenges for the year ahead are highlighted.
Police top brass, including the Minister of Police Bheki Cele, Deputy Minister Cassel Mathale, and national Police Commissioner Fanie Masemola are expected to do a walk about to assess security measures in and around the vicinity of City Hall on Thursday morning.
The police assured some journalists outside the City Hall that the event would take place in a safe and secure environment.
National Deputy Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili: “In terms of security, all systems go, we are ready for any eventuality. We have our forces on the ground. We are coming to do an inspection one last time. It is part of the drill that we are taking. I can assure the nation that we are ready.”
Mosikili added that police officials and law enforcement officers would be deployed around the City Hall to deal with any possible risks or threats that may arise.
