Four men accused of murdering Sindiso Magaqa plead not guilty

The four men charged with the murder of former African National Congress (ANC) Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa have pleaded not guilty to all charges against them.

The accused are all appearing in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

They stand accused of shooting Magaqa in July 2017 in the Umzimkhulu area where he had been serving as an ANC councillor.

They are also accused of wounding Magaqa’s colleagues during the assassination attempt.

Sbonelo Myeza, Mbulelo Mpofana, Mlungisi Ncalane, and Sibusiso Ncengwa have pleaded not guilty to all charges in the murder case of Magaqa.

They are facing eleven charged each including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder.

Malicious damage to property and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Magaqa was shot in 2017 alongside his colleagues Nontsikelelo Mafa and Jabulile Msiya.

He died later in the hospital.

The trial will proceed on Tuesday afternoon following a short adjournment.
