Eskom suspends accused senior manager

Eskom has suspended Petrus Mazibuko, the senior manager accused of accepting bribes.
The power utility is acting on the request that he be suspended pending the completion of an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit.
The SIU has been granted an interim order to freeze R11-million in one of Mazibuko’s bank accounts.
The allegation is that he was receiving kickbacks from two Eskom suppliers.
This was allegedly through a bank account held by Thephunokhetja Projects.
Bank documents obtained by the SIU show the account’s signatories to be Mazibuko and a Shadrack Mazibuko.
The SIU says it’s found no evidence that Thephunokhetja Projects provided services or was legally entitled to claim for goods or services rendered.
