The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced its social grant payment schedule for November 2025, ensuring that beneficiaries can plan ahead to collect their funds on the correct dates.
SASSA remains committed to providing timely and secure access to grants for millions of South Africans who depend on this support. The agency has also reminded beneficiaries to stay alert to fraud prevention measures, including its new biometric enrolment system for all new applicants.
To avoid long queues and overcrowding at pay points, South African Social Security Agency grant payments will be made on different days for each grant category. The payment schedule for November 2025 is as follows:
-
Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 4 November 2025
-
Disability Grant: Wednesday, 5 November 2025
-
Children’s and all other grants: Thursday, 6 November 2025
Beneficiaries can collect their grants from supermarkets, ATMs, the Postbank, or any other approved payment outlet once the funds have been released. It is not necessary to withdraw the grant on the exact payment day — the funds remain available until the beneficiary chooses to collect them.
It encourages beneficiaries to avoid rushing to collection points on the first day, especially vulnerable groups like older persons and persons with disabilities. This helps reduce congestion and ensures a safer, more efficient payment process.
SASSA SRD Grant Payments Will Be Processed in Batches
Unlike other grants, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant — also known as the R370 grant — will not be paid on a fixed date. Instead,it will release SRD payments in batches throughout the month.
Beneficiaries are advised to regularly check their application status on the official SASSA website or WhatsApp line to see their specific payment date. Once processed, SRD payments typically reflect in bank accounts within 2–3 working days.
SASSA also encourages SRD beneficiaries to use direct bank deposits rather than cash collection points for faster and more secure payments.
To enhance security and reduce fraudulent activities, SASSA has introduced a new biometric verification system for all new grant applicants.
From 1 September 2025, any new application for a SASSA grant requires either a fingerprint or facial scan to verify the applicant’s identity. This is part of a broader national effort to safeguard the social grant system from illegal claims and identity theft.
According to SASSA, biometric enrolment ensures that only legitimate beneficiaries receive grants, closing loopholes that have historically been exploited by fraudsters. This initiative also helps the agency maintain an accurate database of recipients.
Existing beneficiaries who applied before 1 September are not required to re-enrol biometrics unless they make changes to their grant details or reapply for benefits.
It has issued a strong warning against sharing personal details such as ID numbers, PINs, or banking information with unauthorized individuals. Criminal syndicates often target vulnerable people, promising faster grant approvals or offering fake assistance.
The agency emphasizes that SASSA does not charge any fees for grant applications, appeals, or payment processing. All official communication will be conducted through authorized channels, including the SASSA website, official WhatsApp number, or SMS.
Beneficiaries are also encouraged to report any suspected fraudulent activity to the SASSA fraud hotline or the nearest police station.
SASSA has made it easy for beneficiaries to check their grant status online or through mobile platforms. Here are a few simple options:
-
Visit the official SASSA website: www.sassa.gov.za
-
Use the SASSA WhatsApp line: 082 046 8553
-
Call the SASSA toll-free number: 0800 60 10 11
-
Visit your nearest SASSA office with a valid ID document.
This allows beneficiaries to confirm payment dates, check the status of their applications, or update personal information without visiting crowded offices unnecessarily.
The SASSA social grant system plays a critical role in supporting over 18 million South Africans, particularly older persons, persons with disabilities, and low-income families. By confirming payment schedules well in advance and implementing security measures like biometric verification,It aims to protect the integrity of the system and ensure grants reach those who need them most.
The agency continues to work with partners such as Postbank, major retailers, and financial institutions to streamline grant access and minimize delays.
With the SASSA payment dates for November 2025 now confirmed, beneficiaries can plan ahead and avoid unnecessary congestion at collection points.
