SAPS applauded for swift operation at Keiskammahoek

Eastern Cape MEC for Transport and Safety, Xolile Nqatha, has praised the police for their swift operation after four suspects were shot and killed by police at Tshoxa Village, in Keiskammahoek, Eastern Cape.

Police were following up on a lead of a person with an unlicensed firearm when they were confronted by a hail of bullets early on Wednesday. Police retaliated and four suspects were shot dead. Nqatha’s Spokesperson Makhaya Komisa says the MEC is pleased with the fight against hardened criminals.

“MEC Nqhata is quite thrilled that the government message is getting clearer. As the government will not allow criminal behaviour to take over the hard-won freedom from our beloved citizens of this province. The honorable MEC is also delighted that there is not a single member of the police who sustained any injury during this shootout.”

Another incident, where a number of suspected criminals were shot dead by police earlier in the year, also happened in Keiskammahoek.
