The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) in Gauteng has announced that fares for taxis will go up from 1 July 2020.
Local trips will increase by R4 – R5 while metro to metro trips are set to increase by a maximum of R7. Cross provincial border trips will increase by R50.
The decision comes after an earlier decision to more than double prices caused outrage.
After a meeting between government and Santaco, it was agreed prices would be revised.
