The National Defence Force has called on South Africans to await the outcome of investigations before accusing its officers of abusing civilians. Concerns have been raised that soldiers are being heavy-handed in some communities during the lockdown. There are also allegations that a 40-year-old man was beaten to death.
SANDF Chaplain General Monwabisi Jamangile says members of the army should subject no civilian to abuse. No one is subject to be beaten and no one must to provoke and be ill-disciplined to the security forces,” Jamangile said. We must work together, the people and the security forces.
