Samir Nasri is clearly enjoying retirement: Pics

Samir Nasri is clearly enjoying retirement as images from French charity match emerge. Back in September of this year, Samir Nasri officially announced that he’d retired from the sport of football.

The former France international’s last club was Belgian outfit Anderlecht, who released him in 2020 after signing him on a free transfer in 2019. Take a look for yourself… Nasri probably should have requested a bigger shirt size for the game…

For quite some time in the late 2000s and 2010s, Nasri was recognised as one of the finest players on the planet, particularly during his heyday at Arsenal. Under Arsene Wenger, the fleet-footed attacking midfielder was unstoppable and the 34-year-old’s performances in north London earned him a prestigious move to Manchester City in 2011.

Nasri wasn’t quite the same player in the north of England, but he still won four major trophies with the Citizens – including two Premier League titles.

The Frenchman was then loaned to Sevilla for the 2016/17 campaign, before joining Turkish side Antalyaspor on a permanent basis in the summer of 2017. He then terminated his contract with the club in January 2018 and a month or so later, Nasri was given a six-month ban by UEFA for breaching WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) rules.

After his ban, the former Marseille man joined West Ham on a short-term deal in 2019 and that was the penultimate destination in Nasri’s eventful – yet pretty successful – playing career.

So what’s he up to these days? Well, Nasri donned Marseille’s jersey again in a charity match against Arsene Wenger’s Team UNICEF on Wednesday evening, alongside the likes of Robert Pires and Didier Drogba.

And images of the Frenchman out on the Orange Velodrome pitch suggest he’s certainly been enjoying the retired life over the past month or so. Some videos of him in action for the Marseille Legends team have emerged too, which you can check out below.

He’s certainly put on a bit of a timber – and who can blame him after decades of working hard and maintaining a ridiculously athletic physique?

We say enjoy yourself as much as possible, Samir!
