SAHRC commissioner threatened by refugee leader

Living conditions worsen for Cape Town refugees

The South African Human Rights Commission will no longer assist refugees who have been occupying the Central Methodist Church in Cape Town.

This follows alleged death threats made by protest leader JP Balous against Commissioner Chris Nissen.

Nissen stated Balous blames the SAHRC commissioner of being the source of the division within the refugee camp.

He said his only message to the asylum seekers is there will be no group resettlement but refugees will be individually assisted.
