Rise Mzansi leader says youth still facing the same struggles

Rise Mzansi leader, Songezo Zibi, says the struggles experienced by the youth of 1976 are similar to those young people face on Sunday.

Zibi made the comments while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of Youth Day commemorations at the Hector Pieterson Memorial in Soweto today.

He said that the failure to create job opportunities has left millions of young people destitute.

“In many ways, the struggles today are still the same. That 1976 generation is facing another era of denied opportunities and denied choice because they are unemployed, they don’t have housing, they don’t have opportunities. Their children don’t have jobs, they don’t have opportunities. So the struggle of 1976 is the same as the struggle of today which means we must continue to fight for a more perfect democracy.”
