Rolling blackouts are affecting infrastructure and causing delays in the restoration of power after planned outages.
City Power says it’s receiving many complaints to this effect, and cable theft doesn’t help.
Eskom has been alternating between Stage 5 and 6 power cuts this week, leaving South Africans frustrated and businesses battling to survive.
“It’s really imposing on our infrastructure and our customers are suffering because of this,” said City Power’s Isaac Mangena.
“The material is getting depleted faster as we can procure because of the extent of damages that load-shedding has on the infrastructure.”
