Madelleine Tshwanu and Pretty Mabila lost their sons when they drowned in a quarry next to a nearby construction site in Mamelodi East, outside Pretoria.
The boys were aged four and seven. The mothers blame the construction company for not securing the dam area properly.
The Gauteng Transport Department has vowed to investigate the matter thoroughly.
