Proteas batter Zubayr Hamza charged by International Cricket Council

Proteas batter Zubayr Hamza will have to explain himself to the International Cricket Council, after a January drug test, he submitted came back positive for a banned substance. The game’s ruling body has formally charged Hamza with an anti-doping violation.

The ICC has also confirmed his suspension pending the outcome of the case.

Cricket SA says Hamza is not disputing the positive test and that he’s fully cooperating with the ICC. The positive test is for a substance called Furosemide, which is not known to be performance-enhancing.

According to CSA, Hamza was able to explain how it entered his system.
