Suspected drunk driver crashes into police vehicles

Driving in a northerly direction, the driver of a VW Golf reportedly lost control and crashed into the police’s vehicles. While the ban on booze is still in effect, a motorist allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol smashed into two-state vehicles on the N2 near Bhonera Farm in Mtubatuba on Saturday night, reports Zululand Observer.

Driving in a northerly direction, the driver of a VW Golf reportedly lost control and crashed into the police vehicles. Two police officers were taken to Melomed Hospital in Richards Bay with moderate injuries.

Bottles of alcohol were found on the driver’s side floor and he was arrested for reckless and drunken driving, as well as for contravening the lockdown regulations.

He appeared in the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court on Monday and his case has been postponed to 26 June.
