The South African Police Service (SAPS) has deployed an additional 400 police officers to Kwazulu-Natal.
The move is part of its post-elections operational strategy.
The SAPS has now deployed more than 1,200 more officers to the province since May this year.
The province is being closely monitored by the safety and security sector since the July 2021 unrest.
“If there’s anyone that commits crime of whatever nature you know what to do. Then make sure that you respect law-abiding citizens in that province, everybody who is in that province be it local or foreign,” said National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola.
Masemola also called on the officers to protect each other.
“Look after yourself don’t try to be a hero out of your own always have your party next to you so that you can protect each other and look after yourselves,” he added.
