Umalusi has raised concern over the mushrooming of bogus schools.
The education quality assurer says some members of the public have been issued fake registration letters after being admitted into fraudulent programmes.
Umalusi has also reiterated that at this stage, it does not recognize any online schools.
“There are some institutions which are illegal because they are not registered anywhere and not recognized who admitted learners into non-existent programmes and they have taken their money and they have issued them with fake registration letters bearing the logo of umalusi,” said Umalusi’s Biki Lepota.
“The specific cases that we are talking about have been referred to the South African Police Services for further investigation.”
