Olivia Wilde served custody papers while on stage in Las Vegas

Olivia Wilde took the stage yesterday, during her CinemaCon presentation for the New Line movie, Don’t Worry Darling. And it’s fair to say, things didn’t exactly go to plan.

The Don’t You Worry Darling director was served with (or for anyone who hasn’t extensively watched legal detective drama series: was given) child custody documents in a brown envelope from her former partner Jason Sudeikis while she stood on stage in front of the audience.

According to onlookers, Olivia Wilde was interrupted while introducing footage of her upcoming thriller Don’t Worry Darling, asking, “This is for me?” as she was handed an envelope marked “private and confidential” by an unknown woman sitting in the front row.
Deadline reports that “the manila envelope marked ‘personal and confidential’… was placed onstage,” and “were custody papers” from her ex. Separated since late 2020, Wilde shares two children with the Ted Lasso star, but it is thought that he had no prior knowledge of the circumstances of the letter’s delivery, according to sources close to him.

The actor and director went on to open the letter during her presentation and scanned its contents, before resuming her speech. The letter was not mentioned again, and initially, fans speculated that she might have been given a new film script. However, it emerged the letter had instead contained custody papers concerning her and Sudeikis’ children.

“Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis,” a source close to Sudeikis told Variety.

“Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner,” they added.
